With a growing number of older people traveling abroad, travel agencies are offering tour programs tailored to their tastes.
Hana Tour, Korea's biggest travel agency, offers a 10-day journey on the Trans-Siberian Express and a 30-day tour of seven Latin American countries. Both target people in their 40s to 60s who want to travel independently, without a tour guide.
Naeil Tour offers a woman-oriented three-day trip to Hong Kong targeting women in their 40s and 50s who want to travel with their friends rather than their husbands or children. The package tour starts from W500,000, and includes five-star hotel accommodation throughout (US$1=W1,202).
Interpark Tour offers a 12-day tour of Australia and New Zealand and a 10-day tour of four nations in Western Europe. Both packages feature travel by coach, staying at luxury hotels.
According to Hana Tour, 48 percent of its customers who traveled overseas in the first 10 months of this year were in their 50s or older, up 8 percentage points from 2013.
