On November 18, IU dropped the music video for her new single “Blueming,” the title track off her fifth mini album Love Poem. The vibrant video shows IU with blue hair living in a deep blue apartment, maintaining a garden of deep blue roses, and taking off on adventures on her bright blue bike. She looks like she lives in a world saturated in blue verbatim.
“Blueming” is an electro-pop rock track with a unique synth and dynamic band sound. IU participated in the composition and wrote the lyrics for the song. Her album includes six songs and all her new tracks have grabbed spots in the Top 10 of real time charts of the five major sites: Melon, Bugs, Genie, Soribada, and FLO.
IU held a V Live broadcast to celebrate the release of her new EP Love Poem and picked three songs that she had particular affection for: “Unlucky,” “Above the Time,” and “Blueming.”
She said, “All of the songs on the EP are weighted around the theme of love. That could be love for a lover, yourself, humanity, or the days that have gone by. It’s about many forms of love.”
Dubbed as a digital queen and a little sister of the country, IU has received plenty of positive feedback from the K-Pop fandom with regard to her brand new album.
“When I heard Blueming, I was pleasantly surprised by its upbeat atmosphere. The rock electro-pop instrumental had a fun vibe to it, which made me instantly smile while listening to it for the first time. I could tell from the first listen that this song would be rather addictive to listen to. Everything went well together and it comes off as a perfect track. Perfection is something that seems to be associated with IU with every one of her albums and songs,” a K-Pop lover extolled IU.
In 2013, IU shocked the K-Pop world with a sudden switch to jazz for her album Modern Times. She experienced with more complex and fluctuating time signatures and big band sounds. As a songwriter, IU employs sophisticated compositional techniques that make her music stand out in the pop scene. That’s why she’s maintained constant presence on the charts since 2010. She’s outranked BTS, Girls’ Generation, and Big Bang, which are some of the best-selling K-Pop groups of all time!
