The compelling boy band announces new album
BTS’ upcoming album Map of the Soul: Persona is poised to mesmerize music lovers. The powerful boy group has already unveiled their third and fourth batches of concept photos for the new album on April 3rd. The theme features the boys in rose-toned rooms in a house whilst various states of getting ready continue.
To be specific, the first set of concept images, aka version1, shows BTS playing around in a photo booth with one main photo tinted orange surrounded by 16 other miniature shots tinted pink. RM parties it up with confetti and fabric, Jimin shows off his hair static with some balloons, and V interacts with a selfie stick and a phone. Suga holds a camera, J-Hope aims at the camera with a toy gun while showing off his scarf, Jungkook takes a bit out of chocolate chip cookies, and Jin preps with a toothbrush and towel. This set features them fully dressed and seductively eating some fruit. It also looks like the hearts are back for the new album. Much like the Love Yourself: Answer covers, the Map of the Soul: Persona album cover looks as though the heart was hand drawn.
There are already many fan theories as to what the different versions could be inspired by, and some also wonder if the items within the images could also have hidden meanings as well. If you check out Jung’s Map of the Soul, you can figure where the inspiration came from for BTS’ new album. Big Hit Entertainment had the book sitting in their online shop for quite a while, but any of viewers didn’t realize it was a clue for their new album. The idea of personas comes from one of the concepts in the book.
Simply Psychology refers to what the persona is, which helps the audience figure out BTS’s new album layout. “The persona, or mask is the outward face we present to the world. This is the public face or role a person presents to others as someone different from who we really are like an actor.”
It’s quite possible that BTS will make this into a trilogy much like the Love Yourself albums. Online users exhibit Map of the Soul: Shadow and Map of the Soul: Ego as the next title of the Map of the Soul series.
BTS’ Map of the Soul: Persona was released on April 12th, which is the group’s first album of 2019. Here are BTS’ upcoming concerts schedules with their new album: May 4th Rajamangala National Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand; May 4th Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA, USA; May 5th Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA, USA; May 12th Soldier Field, Chicago, IL, USA; May 18th MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ, USA; May 19th MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ, USA; May 25th Allianz Parque, Sao, Paulo, Brazil; May 26th Allianz Parque, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Meanwhile, last May, BTS made history as the first South Korean group to top the American charts with their album Love Yourself: Tear. The colons in the title aren’t just for show, but rather designate conceptual arcs for the band. Just like Love Yourself series advanced, Persona marks the beginning of their new chapter, Map of the Soul. The seven members also showed up at the Grammys last February, where Love Yourself: Tear was nominated for Best Recording Package. They described the experience as “more than a dream.”
