Korean actors you didn’t know were models.

Acting is one of the hardest careers to come by in the entertainment arena. Many actors with new faces have been pouring from drama and flicker productions. You might be somewhat dubious about the fact that they look familiar and how well they are going to act. Moreover, they seem to take up the acting career easily.
Yes, your doubt makes sense. Some of the actors in your doubt are the ones who turned their modeling gigs into acting. Those two different areas have much in common. The idol-turned-actor trend should be also considered, including Park Yoo Chun, EXO’s Do Kyung Soo, and Big Bang’s T.O.P. They are young men who started their careers on the runways of the world of high couture and fashion. Let us look into who turned over a new leaf as an actor from an advertisement, magazine, or runway model.
Lee Jong Suk debuted in 2005 as a runway model, becoming the youngest male model to participate in Seoul Fashion Week. When Lee turned heads at Burberry’s London Runway Show in 2016 by pairing a dark blue tuxedo with a grey wool dress coat, the attendees were enthralled with his motion. He was praised by many as, “a model who had the image of a child and an adult man coexisting within him.”
As for acting, he debuted in 2005 with the short film Sympathy and has notably appeared on the TV commercials for several companies. He made his breakthroughs in acting with Pinocchio and W in 2014 and 2016, respectively. He took part in a selection for actors at SBS TV station when he was in middle school before officially debuting as an actor. He received high marks and quickly drew the attention of viewers.
Lee announced last September that he would be starring in a new tvN romantic comedy! The actor confirmed that he would be appearing in the upcoming drama, “Romance Supplement,” marking his first romantic comedy role since his debut eight years ago. He stated, “I’m also very excited about taking on the romantic comedy genre for the first time. It has a very different texture from the dramas I’ve taken on in the past, I think I’ll be able to show a new side of myself that is different from what I’ve shown up until now.”
He ranked in 5th place according to a survey entitled, “Actors Who Lit Up 2013” by Gallup Korea, one of the most recognized awards in Korea for the entertainment industry. He is known as one of the big four Korean Wave Hallyu stars along with Kim Soo Hyun, Lee Min HO, and Kim Woo Bin.
Here’s a guy nicknamed Prince of Asia: Lee Kwang Soo, who is best known as a cast member of the variety show Running Man. This show played as a cupid’s arrow for Mr. Lee and whose agency KingKong by Starship stated last December, “Lee Kwang Soo and Lee Sun Bin have been dating for five months after meeting each other on the Running Man TV show.” The couple gave a nod to the masses regarding their relationship. He began his career as a model when he was 22. At the Korea Dram Awards in 2014, Lee captured the hearts of the audience with irresistible charm and thank you speech, wearing a classic black-and-white suit with a black bow tie.
Kim Woo Bin, born 1989, began his modeling career in 2009 as a runway model and formed a solid ground to win some fashion industry awards. His enthusiasm for acting was so extraordinary that he practiced acting with a drama coach even during his modeling days. His great efforts paid off and he received his first acting break with White Christmas by playing an intelligent but tough, high school bully role. Well worth watching, the drama itself came off as provoking mystery in an elite boarding school over the Christmas break. His compelling supporting roles in other dramas were attributed to his efforts of acting that he had put forth. He has given his fans butterflies with more unique characters in more dramas. His fans firmly believe that Kim will continue to step up his game in the acting arena this year.
