President Park Geun-hye’s approval rating is dwindling to a single digit as a massive crony scandal engulfs her administration.
In a poll by the Naeil Daily on Tuesday, Park’s approval rating fell to 9.2 percent, down 25 points compared to a month ago. Some 67.3 percent of respondents said Park should resign or at least halt all political activities.
Another poll by Embrain for the Munhwa Ilbo shows her approval rating at 13.7 percent, while 83.7 percent said she is doing a bad job of leading the nation.
Some 36.1 percent wanted her to resign and 12.1 percent supported impeachment. Another 26.1 percent supported the formation of a neutral Cabinet, and 22.5 percent favored Park staying in her post after her Cabinet is reshuffled.
Another pollster, Research View, put Park’s approval rating at 10.4 percent, with 81.2 percent saying she was doing a bad job.
