Younger Koreans prefer to spend their money on services to enrich their lifestyles rather than on consumer goods.
Many would rather spend their money physical or cultural activities, travel and other experiences.
According to BC Card, 35 percent of customers who bought tickets for plays and musicals on major booking sites were in their 30s, followed by those in their 20s (27 percent) and 40s (24 percent).
The number of people who spend money on yoga, spas or fitness centers that offer massage chairs and similar services rose by 10,903 from June of last year to May of this year.
Also, 65 percent of customers who bought flight tickets on budget carriers are singles, newlyweds or couples with young children. These customers also accounted for 46 percent of tickets on flag carriers.
The number of people enjoying such services alone also grew. Last year, 1,222 BC Card transactions involved people traveling alone, and the number already stood at 716 in the first half of this year.
